As Library supporters, we realize how much we depend upon going to the Library. Now we are all learning about checking out books with the new Takeout service, exploring the many databases and articles available from home, and virtually checking out eBooks and audiobooks.
The number of programs the Library continues to offer is impressive. Summer Reading 2020 “Imagine your Story” is designed for readers of all ages with prizes. Other virtual adult programs include the Alameda Library Book Club, All Your Favorite Music is (Probably) Black, and Meditation for Modern Life. There are a wide variety of children’s programs, from Maker Monday to Foodie Friday interspersed with School Age Storytime. All of these programs are free, many supported by FAL.
FAL has been resourceful. Increasingly larger numbers of people are attending our Friends @ Home online events. The more than 600 people who joined our Frida Kahlo Art Docent Webinar was very unexpected, but we responded quickly to the demand and paid to expand our webinar license to allow more people to attend. We are sponsoring Author Talks and will continue the outstanding Live @ the Library with a virtual jazz concert this fall.
Finally, thank you to those who responded to our request for donations to help us continue to support and sponsor events like these in the future.
