Heading into the summer months, FAL leadership recognized the potential of its own staffing shortage at the Books for Friends (BFF) store due to the strong desire for out-of-town travel. The return to being comfortable with vacations thankfully came with the return to in-person community service for Alameda youth.
FAL was fortunate to have three high school volunteers, Jasmine Ganzorig, Elise Gong, and Ramona McNish, join the BFF volunteer family. They assisted with sales in BFF and receiving and sorting book donations.
The teens have continued their service to FAL beyond their schools’ requirements and their summer breaks. We are thankful for their perspectives on Alameda, the library, life, and especially technology. FAL will be recognizing their efforts with a gift certificate and letter of service acknowledgment signed by our Board President Karen Butter.
